fff is a 10 monitor video installation. It is a collaboration between composer Michael Nyman and Kutluğ Ataman. The title of the piece stands for ‘found family footage’ and as implied the visuals consist of home movies found by Ataman in the archives of two UK families, the Fryer family and the Howard family.

With ten musical scores composed independently from the artist, and with the visuals recorded likewise without the involvement of the composer, Ataman’s voice is limited to editing. This is exactly Ataman's objective. As an outsider to UK society, this is his attempt to reconstruct the meaning of the host culture and to make it his own.
