THE PORTRAIT OF SAKIP SABANCI
2014

Sakıp Sabancı Museum, Istanbul, 2014
Commissioned by the Sabancı Family
Created for the tenth anniversary of the death of Turkish business leader Sakıp Sabancı.
THE PORTRAIT OF SAKIP SABANCI is a multi-image work of some of the thousands of people, from all walks of life, whose paths crossed Sakıp Sabancı's in some way. These are people who were supported by him, those who worked with him, and family members.
One of the largest examples of video art, it has approximately 10,000 LCD panels and took three years to complete. The shape of the work is adjustable to the exhibition space in which it is shown.
Although technologically advanced the creation of the work uses raw material that is essentially human.
